Install and open Autovat
Windows
- Download the Windows EXE and keep it in a folder where you can save files, such as your Documents folder.
- Double-click the EXE. Windows may show an unrecognized-app warning because this release has no publisher certificate. Verify the download source before choosing More info → Run anyway, if that option is offered.
- Select Choose folder in Autovat and choose the folder containing your receipts. Use Help in the app for the full workflow.
Mac
- Download the correct ZIP, open it in Finder and drag Autovat.app to Applications.
- Open Autovat from Applications. If macOS blocks it because the developer cannot be verified, dismiss the alert.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll to Security and choose Open Anyway for Autovat, then confirm Open. Authenticate if asked.
- Use Choose folder to select your receipts. Allow access to that folder when macOS asks.
About the Mac security message
These builds are not signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized by Apple. Use the app-specific exception only after verifying the source. If macOS reports malware, a damaged app, or offers no exception, stop and contact the developer. Apple’s security instructions.
Updating an existing installation
Quit Autovat, replace the old EXE or Applications copy with the new one, then reopen it. Keep your receipt folder, its hidden .autovat folder, output files and saved settings. A new Mac release may need its own Open Anyway approval. Startup checks only offer this download page; Autovat does not download or install updates automatically.
Start with your receipts
Choose a receipt folder, add your details and read the input files. Local text recognition is included. Optional OpenAI or Claude reading needs your own provider key and may incur provider charges. Review the extracted details, payment matches and bank redactions before creating files.
Your generated files are saved in output inside the selected receipt folder. Keep the hidden .autovat folder to resume review.
Usage permission
Autovat is free to use for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may keep copies for your own use and backup. Without prior written permission from Richard Rosenbusch, you may not modify or create derivative versions of Autovat, redistribute it, sell it, sublicense it, charge for it, or use it to provide a paid service or for other commercial purposes.
These restrictions apply to Autovat's original code and materials. Bundled third-party components remain governed by their own licenses below. Nothing in this notice limits rights those licenses grant, including modifying or replacing LGPL libraries and reverse engineering to debug such modifications, or rights that applicable law does not allow to be restricted.
You retain your rights to your input documents, personal data and generated outputs. This permission notice does not claim ownership of those materials. Autovat is provided as is, without warranties to the extent permitted by law. Check all extracted details and generated forms before relying on them.
